Liz Dixon is our newest featured artisan at The Storied Table . A Kansas City native – Liz is the talented hand behind the gorgeous calligraphy on our wooden boards! Just in time for the holidays, we will be selling Liz’s Calligraphy Wood Boards on Sunday, December 11 at Dose Market.

We first met Liz when we reached out for her help in creating a few branding elements for The Storied Table and Entertaining Company. When we decided to add hand calligraphy products to The Storied Table, she was the first person we called. Her style is both loose and legible with a detailed look. We love Liz’s style which she describes as  “a cross between artsy and preppy”.  Either way,  we are obsessed with calligraphy and Liz’s style and how it adds a personal one-of-a kind touch to items for the home. Liz is a natural born artist who has always had an artistic eye and eventually turned her passion into a career.  Liz attended the Illinois Institute of Art Chicago where she studied Interior Design. Liz stated that she finds most of her inspiration in nature. “I love to travel and look at how things flow, shapes of buildings, architecture, and how the light makes things look beautiful.” Liz prefers to hand write everything as she tracks her notes, calendar, to-do lists etc. Focusing on handwriting has helped Liz morph her style over time and allowed her to better her technique; like anything else, practice makes perfect.

Since moving to Chicago, Liz has found herself often working in the special events industry collaborating with brides and grooms to create stunning save the dates and invitations for their wedding.  She tends to work with a lot of watercolor and gouache (a paint that is a cross between acrylic and water color) as well as some inks. Liz has been so fun and easy to work with and we are thrilled to have her as one of our talented artisans. We look forward to adding Liz’s artisanal touch to more elements for your #StoriedHome.

Happy Shopping!
